GLMS Robotics Team Wins Spring Competition
The Grass Lake Middle School Robotics club, Team 7360, competed in the FTC spring scrimmage competition on Saturday, May 3. After coming in strong at 3rd overall in the qualifiers, Team Robo Yolo was chosen by the top seed team from East Jackson to form an alliance for the Finals. Grass Lake graciously accepted, and together the alliance won first place. Grass Lake also earned the esteemed ‘Inspire’ award for all of their hard work in helping other teams, working together to make sure that each attending Robo Yolo teammate was able to participate in the drive team during Saturday’s event, and their overall effort in multiple competitions their very first year. We are really proud of how well the team did in this inaugural year and look forward to many more. Way to go, ROBO YOLO!
"The Grass Lake team designed and fielded a Lego Mindstorms / Tetrix robot that could autonomously navigate to an infrared beacon, "slam dunking" blocks into raised baskets, and could be teleoperated by the team drivers to dunk more blocks, block opposing robots, and raise the competition flag at the end of the competition."
This is Team Robo Yolo’s first year of existence and they have been very competitive throughout the school year. Congratulations!
